Consisting of four musicians from the California Institute of the Arts, The Funnies seek to make a tangible connection with their audiences, which accounts for their highly energized and experimental musical language. Their repertoire incorporates an amalgam of African rhythms tonal and atonal jazz harmonies with melodic influences from North India to Bali all rooted within deep trance inducing electro funk grooves.

On stage, the immutable bond the four musician’s share as friends and spiritual brothers is overwhelmingly apparent, translating into their music and in turn, their audiences. For them, performance is about striving for balance and generating a sense of freedom, inspiring people to create and facilitating a space for individual expression that contributes to universal energy.
